Mount Pleasant, Michigan, is home to Central Michigan University and its approximately 20,000 on-campus students.

Located near the center of Michigan’s Lower Peninsula, Mount Pleasant is a smaller community of about 27,000 residents. That location puts Mount Pleasant within easy driving distance of metropolitan areas to the south and the lakes and hills to the north. Michigan’s larger cities offer museums, galleries, libraries and professional sporting events, while its rural areas offer beautiful resources for downhill and cross country skiing, boating, camping, swimming and enjoying the state’s many freshwater lakes and streams.

CMU’s campus also provides many of these features on a smaller scale. Professional and student performing groups offer theater presentations and concerts throughout the year. Smaller museums and galleries offer exhibits of art, culture and the history and resources of Michigan. The university is part of the Mid-American Conference and sponsors 16 intercollegiate sports teams for men and women.
