Living expenses. Living expenses include the cost of room and
board as well as books and class supplies; incidentals such as

Verification of financial support
The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) requires
Central Michigan University to obtain verification that
international students have sufficient funds to support themselves
for nine months. The following expenses are estimates only; the
estimates are subject to change and are adjusted annually. The
amounts are considered minimum expenses for a full course of
study for an academic year (two semesters). Tuition and fees are
subject to change by the Board of Trustees.
Scholarships for undergraduate students
A number of Presidential Awards help international students finance
their education at Central Michigan University. To be eligible for
these awards, you must be a non-immigrant student who will be new to
the university and plan to earn a degree. You must meet all
eligibility requirements for admission to CMU.
All the awards are renewable, and students may receive the
scholarships as many as eight semesters. Scholarships are applied to
payment of tuition and may not exceed the cost of tuition in any
semester.
Students who enroll in CMU’s English Language Institute, which is a
nondegree program, are eligible for the scholarships after
completing the program and earning admission to an undergraduate
degree program.
Global Scholar
$12,000 over four years |
New international students who have been admitted to CMU’s
freshman class are eligible for this award of $3,000 per year
($1,500 per semester). Up to seven scholarships area
available. Applicants must have earned a 3.00
cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at the time of
application. |
Continental Scholar
$8,000 over four years |
This award for international freshmen and transfer students is
valued at $2,000 per year ($1,000 per semester). Up to 12
scholarships are available. Applicants must have earned a 2.90
cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at the time of
application.

President's Award |
This award honors non-United States resident high school seniors
who will graduate with at least a 3.3 (on a United States 4.0 scale)
grade point average, have a 22 or higher ACT composite score (or
SAT I of 1,000), a TOEFL score of 550 (213 for computer-based testing)
for applicants whose native language is not English, and enroll
directly as freshmen at Central Michigan University as on-campus
students.

If you are enrolled in a degree-granting program at CMU and are
registered for fulltime enrollment for the semester in which you
would be working, you are eligible to work on campus
